Youth League Asks $37,000 for a Mid-Size Diamond at Mary C. Lane
Mary C. Lane Playground · Community Preservation Committee · Nov 2, 2026
Milton has no baseball diamond for the step up to full-size fields, and a youth league wants to add one.
- Why: players now jump from 60-foot to 90-foot base paths in one year, which the league's president called unsafe. Teams travel out of town for this size. The town's parks master plan, due in about a month, names the gap.
- Cost: $57,000, including a fence along the path to the playground. The league has about $20,000 from sponsors and asks the town for the rest.
- Questions: members asked about scheduling, the fence and upkeep, and raised no objections. Milton National, the town's other league, sent a support letter.
- Next: no decision yet. Town Meeting votes on the projects the committee recommends.
