Sources and labels
  • Permits: the town's PermitEyes list (permiteyes.us/milton/publicview.php), copied Oct 18, 2026. "Work described" is the applicant's own text, not a town finding. PermitEyes has no web address for a single application, so a permit source in a story opens the application's details on this page, with the number to search at PermitEyes.
  • Flagged means sorted automatically by keywords in the applicant's text: Multi-unit or lot split (3+ units, two-to-three family, subdivisions), Demolition (whole house or building), New home, Commercial project, ADU, Addition, and Zoning case (other homes asking the Zoning Board for relief). A dashed ring marks any application that needs zoning relief. Counts are approximate.
  • Each story's label names the source of its headline fact. Green: the town acted (Permit Granted, a board decision or minutes). Blue: the town scheduled or discussed it (an agenda or meeting video). Amber: the applicant says so (Permit Application, an applicant's or developer's letter). Gray: someone else reported it.
  • Board hearings come from agendas in the town's Agenda Center (checked Oct 18, 2026). Zoning Board decisions and case files are at miltonma.gov/558/Active-Appeals.
  • ADU: accessory dwelling unit, a small second home on a single-family lot. 40B: a state law that lets developers bypass some local zoning when at least a quarter of the units are affordable. Variance: permission to break a zoning rule. Special permit: permission for a use or change the bylaw allows only with board approval.
  • Map: streets, parks and water © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); locations from MassGIS address points (the state's address database), or the US Census geocoder for the few new addresses MassGIS doesn't list yet.
