About Civic Hum
Civic Hum helps residents follow what their town is deciding and building, so they can understand it and have a say while it still matters.
We're starting in Milton, Massachusetts, with what's being built in town: new homes, demolitions, zoning cases and the boards that decide them.
How we report
We go to the official record. We read building permit applications as they're filed, board agendas, applications, plans and decisions, and we watch and transcribe public meetings. Every story links to the documents it's based on, so you can check them yourself.
We use software, including AI tools, to track new filings and to help draft stories. Every fact is checked against its source before it's published. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so at the end of the story.
Independent
Civic Hum is independent. It isn't part of, or endorsed by, the Town of Milton or any town board, and it isn't an official record. We never publish homeowners' names. More in Terms and notices.
