Solar Filings Drop to 38 Houses in Milton, From 96 in 2025
Townwide · Trend · Nov 3, 2026
Milton houses filed for solar at less than half last year's pace after the federal 30% credit ended.
- This year: 38 houses filed Jan 1 to Oct 31, against 96 in the same months of 2025 and 76 in 2024. Of the 38, 31 are new rooftop systems. The rest add batteries to existing panels or take panels down.
- Month by month: 13 houses filed in October 2025, before the credit ended. October 2026 had 2, both awaiting approval. No month this year topped 6.
- The credit: it cut a homeowner's federal tax by 30% of a home system's cost. The tax law signed July 4, 2025 ends it for systems installed after Dec 31, 2025.
- Cost: the typical cost put on this year's filings is $46,050. The priciest, $155,400 on Randolph Ave, is 48 panels and two batteries, filed Oct 29.
How we counted: Houses in the town's Solar permit category, each counted once, by its first solar filing. One, on Truman Pkwy, has no map location: counted, not shown.
