A Typical Deck or Porch Now Costs $25,000, Up From $17,004
Townwide · Trend · Nov 3, 2026
We looked at the costs on Milton homeowners' permits: decks and porches rose by nearly half in a year, additions by 5%.
- Decks and porches: typical cost $25,000 across 47 homes, up from $17,004 across 63 a year earlier. Half cost between $16,000 and $45,295. The priciest job that is only a deck or porch: $100,000 for a rear deck and front porch on Fieldstone Lane.
- Additions: typical cost $230,368 across 92 homes, up from $220,000 across 93. Half cost between $100,125 and $387,250. The priciest: $1,025,000 for a one-story, 2,490-square-foot addition with a bedroom and two baths on Highland St.
- How we counted: building permits for Milton homes filed Nov 2, 2025 to Nov 1, 2026, compared with the 12 months before. Additions are the town's Addition And Renovation and Addition Only categories; decks and porches are Deck/Porch Addition Only. Each home counts once, at its first filing, and filings under $1,000 are left out. Costs are what applicants wrote on the permit, not final prices.
