Milton Opioid Settlement Grants Now Cover Sober Living and Funerals
Townwide · Board of Health · Nov 1, 2026
Opioid settlement money will now cover up to $10,000 in sober living or funeral costs, Milton's Board of Health decided Oct 26.
- Small grants: open to people with opioid use disorder, now named on the form, and their immediate family. Nobody applied last year. The fund holds over $400,000.
- Projects: Milton organizations can seek up to $20,000 each by Jan 31, later than the Dec 15 first proposed. Last year four applied and one, the Milton Art Center, was funded.
- HOPE Center: $1,200 went to the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office center in Braintree for prepaid phones, rides to treatment and hygiene backpacks. Members noted that it bypassed the new forms and asked how many Milton residents it serves.
- Set aside: a member's call for a community advisory board of families and recovery groups. Others said it was premature until the regional public health coalition Milton belongs to presents its plan.
