$11.75M Labouré Purchase Goes to Town Meeting, Then to Voters Dec 15
303 Adams St · Oct 19, 2026 · Town Meeting
Milton would pay $11.75M for the closed college campus, about $130 a year on the average tax bill.
- Price: $11.75M for 4.77 acres and about 54,000 sq ft of buildings. The town's appraiser valued it at $10.9M, within a range of $10.2M to $12.2M.
- Two votes: two-thirds of Town Meeting on Article 6, then a majority of voters on a Dec 15 debt exclusion. Town Meeting's vote is not yet posted.
- Tax bill: about $1.175M in the first year of a 20-year loan, or about $130 for the average single-family home
- School plan: Article 7 asks $1.2M to design a school at the site. A PreK/K center there is estimated at $83.8M with no state aid, and the Warrant Committee estimates it would save the town about $33M compared with Gile Road.
- Not settled: the School Committee has not endorsed Labouré as its preferred site, the Warrant Committee wrote. Member Nathan Hutto, who voted no, reports a 3-2 vote Oct 7 to study a PreK/K center there while the state-aided school project continues.
- Amendments: Town Meeting members filed changes, among them a classroom needs analysis before the $1.2M is spent and a public process with Labouré's neighbors
- Background: Labouré College of Healthcare closed in August 2026, and the Select Board signed the purchase agreement Sept 22. Milton is also in the state's MSBA program, which can pay part of a new school, for a project whose options include Gile Road.
